Hello,
My name is Elsa. I’m a young girl, who had a bad start in life. My family neglected me and left me outside all alone. The good people from Manatee animal services rescued me, and promptly called Florida SharPei rescue to come and get me.
I have some worms in my heart, so I have to have some treatment for that.
In the meantime, I’m happy in my foster home. I have Tebow and Jack and Amos to play with. I’ve got foster mom and dad, even some little people to love.
I’m getting good food, treats and a warm bed. I’m not too familiar with these things called toys, but I mastered the doggy door in 15 minutes.
Mom named me Elsa after the snow queen, in the movie FROZEN. She said I’m beautiful, just like her. I like that, it makes me smile.

Hi, my name is Mauggie (aka Mugsy). I am a very active 50 lb, two year old female pei. My daddy died suddenly and a neighbor took me. She could not find a home for me so the good folks at FSPR decided to help me out.

I am happy staying with my foster mom and an old guy named Dudley, but I could really use a fur-ever home. I have my own bed and lots of good food. Dudley has a medical condition and eats three times per day. WOW, I get all the food I want and I don’t bother him when he eats. I would prefer a yard with a 6 foot fence since I can jump a 4 foot fence when I get scared. I am dog, cat and tiny people friendly.

Mauggie can sit most times but has trouble with stay. She becomes extremely excited when I come home – her tail wags her whole body. She gives sloppy pei kisses and enjoys sleeping on my bed with Dudley during the day. She is quiet and well behaved when I am home. Hi! I’m Marley. I am a little over a year and a half old and have a black & brown horsecoat. I was very skinny when I came into rescue but I am eating well and gaining weight. I just got here but am looking for my “furever” home. My new foster family is teaching me to sit and some other things that I didn’t know how to do before I came into the rescue. I am good in a crate and haven’t had any accidents in the house since I have been here.

UPDATE:

Marley has had entropion surgery and is ready to find her new home. She is still HW+ but is being treated but can still be adopted to someone who will continue to give her treatment until she is HW-. FSPR will supply the medication for the Heartworm treatment. Marley will do very well in a home with other dogs. She follows her foster brother around and has learned a lot from him. She is very playful and loves to play with toys and chew on hoofies and Nylabones. She gets along well with both male and female dogs as well as cats. She would love a fenced yard but is good on a leash and loves walks so if you don’t have a fence, it’s okay. It does take Marley some time to warm up but we have had guests whom she has warmed up to by the end of the night. She just needs some time to figure out that you are there to spoil her too. She goes to doggy daycare with her foster brother and plays very well with all of the other guests. She also has warmed up to the staff and they love having her there. Marley would do well in a home with no children or older children that can give her time to warm up to them. Marley is crate trained and knows how to sit, knows “in” and “out”, and is learning to lay down and stay. If you are interested in Marley, please fill out an application. She loves it at her foster home but she wants to find her “fur”ever home so that another doggie can come out of doggie jail and take her place in her foster home.

My foster family thinks that I was an outside dog but I am loving being inside now. I like to take walks and don’t pull too much on the leash. I am scared of fast movements but my foster family takes me places and they have lots of different people pet me and give me treats so I am starting to not be so afraid anymore. I like to follow the cat around but I never try to hurt him. The other doggies at my foster home are teaching me how to play and eat treats. I love treats now but when I first came to stay here, I wouldn’t even try them. I have never had anyone to play with before either so I just watched everyone run around with these things they call “toys”. Now, I will pick them up and carry them around but I’m still not sure what I am supposed to do. I get along really well with all of the other doggies though… even when they bounce all over me.

JEWEL UPDATE 10/12/13

Jewel has successfully completed house dog 101. She steals my socks, whines at the back door to go out, and sits near the cookie jar. Her personality could not be sillier or more pleasant. She is soooo happy! Of course I’m always poking and prodding and cleaning her up, trying to get her skin an coat in good shape. Her foster uncle has shown her how comfy dog beds are and how relaxing it is to lie around chewing a hoofie or toy. JuJu still has a very long way to go though, with some pretty serious physical disabilities. She will see the orthopedic specialist on Tuesday, and we trust his opinion and of course his work! This girl deserves whatever surgery might be needed to help her go on to a pain free life, and donations are deeply appreciated! One day this girl is going to have her very own forever home where she’ll never worry about being starved or neglected ever again. For now, she’s doing a pretty good job learning how to be spoiled by her FSPR family.

Hi, everybody! I’m Jewel, that’s a new name for me to go with my new lease on life. I am a very sweet girl but have had a hard life prior to coming into rescue. Me, my baby sister “Dora” and our mom “Lexy”, were dropped off at doggy jail. We had another sister but they say she crossed over the rainbow bridge before she could be rescued. That makes me really sad.

I am very skinny and have some problems with my back legs that make them not work right. I do get around but it’s not easy for me so the FSPR people who saved me say they know this really nice doctor man who likes to help dogs who have problems with their legs like I do.

I am staying with a really nice temporary foster family right now and one of my pei sisters here might be my real sister, she is older than me but she came to FSPR from the same place that I did and she had bad back legs then too, but the nice doctor fixed her so I guess he can fix me. I hope so.

I am going to be on medical hold for quite a while, I think, but it will be well worth it when I am finally healthy and able to play just like all the other dogs I’ve met here. I can’t wait to find a forever home. Maybe that can be with you? Check back on me often to see my progress. Hello good people, I’m Little Peiton, and while I’m not a big guy, I have a big heart and big love for play. I love people and other dogs and I didn’t pay attention to the kitties when I went to the doctor man. My foster dad says I’m quite a good looking boy and well behaved for a puppy.

I love playing and napping with my foster sister Gigi, and love having my belly, ears, nose, and neck rubbed. Sometimes I act like a kitty and purr when my belly is rubbed. I know to do my business outside and have not had 1 accident in the house. I sleep in my crate at night and am a quick learner. I already learned that Gigi and I have to sit before we are allowed to go out in the yard and I’m also learning to lie down, shake, stay, and here.

My foster dad took me to the doctor man and when I got home my dad told me I was neutered. I don’t know what that means but I think those rascally squirrels stole my nuts. It’s tough being me. My original mom gave me to the nice people at FSPR because she didn’t have a dad for me and she couldn’t handle a puppy and her children at the same time in her small apartment. If you’ll adopt me I will be the love of your life and promise to be a good boy.

We received Ella as a pair (with Roxy). It’s still unknown if they are related; however, they behave remarkably together. Ella is a super sweet girl. She immediately came to us with tons of kisses. After two thorough baths, she looks and smells like a different dog. She is extremely friendly with our young son. And has ignored our cat.

Since the weather has been great outside, she and Roxy have been chilling each day on our deck in the shade. They initially slept in a large crate together, until (like always) we let them join us in our bedroom 🙂 I had to make Ella snuggle right next to me. She eventually LOVED getting pet and pampered. She is always following us around the house, to be involved with everything. There have been no accidents in the house and no chewing on our furniture or toys. She even caught on to the doggy-door real quick. They have not tried to dig under our fence or are bothered by our neighbors dog that barks.

I really think this is the first time she has ever been treated like family – which she truly deserves. I believe she would do great in a home with children or other animals. She doesn’t even seem concerned that we have two other dogs in the home. She just chills and does her own thing. But definitely wants to be a part of the family. She is more passive than Roxy, letting Roxy push her way to the food bowl first. But Ella is first to give kisses. Overall, she is an amazing pei!

Hi! My name is Chloe and I’m new around here. I was dumped at a Walmart parking lot and some nice people picked me up and took me to a scary place with lots of other dogs. I had to be spayed and they said I have worms in my heart. My foster mom came to pick me up and then took me to another place where they said they could get rid of those worms and told me that I need to have my eyes fixed. I won’t be able to go to my new home until I am all better but I still wanted to let you know that I am here and when I am better, I might want to come and live with you.

I am still a little scared but I do like to play with the other doggies at my foster home. I’m not sure what to do with toys and treats though but the other doggies are teaching me. I haven’t had any of those things before. I have learned what “no” means (even though I don’t like that word) and I learned how to sit. They are still teaching me all kinds of new things here. I even get to hang out with this little guy they call a cat. I really like him and I always give him kisses when he comes around. I do that to the other dogs too.

I’m a really happy girl and I think I’m just what you need to make your home complete. My foster mom doesn’t know a whole lot about me yet but says I am pretty easy going. I love for her to pet me and play with me and I also like to take walks. I am pretty gentle and don’t pull much on the leash when we go outside. I do very well in a crate and am housebroken.
