UPDATE: Odin was seen by Dr. Dan Brown (ophthalmologist) for suture removal and post-operative care on August 13th. Dr. Brown was very pleased with the surgical results, and Odin has regained his ability to see once again. We are looking for a forever home for Odin and his soul mate Sasha. They were surrendered to Rescue together and are like two peas in a pod. It would be wonderful if we could continue to keep them together, but if necessary would consider separation. If you have a place in your home and in your heart for one or both of these two special dogs, they would be forever grateful.
Odin was in the same situation as Sasha. He had no vet care and was always outside with no chance to play. Odin is neutered and up-to-date on all shots. He, too, is heartworm positive and has poor eyesight. He has a cherry eye and the other eye has some damage as well. We are very hopeful that his eye surgery will restore his vision. For the present time, Sasha’s eyes are his eyes. She guides him and he follows. Sasha and Odin are good buddies, and we would like to keep them together.
About this Pei : Odin is tentative about his movements and usually stays fairly close to Sasha. They love to play tug of war with a towel and are starting to carry around toys as well. Odin has acclimated to life indoors and he and Sasha have come a long way. They still have a medical journey ahead of them with their eye surgeries. Coming from lives of extreme sadness and neglect, they are now enjoying life and awaiting a home of their own.

UPDATE: Sasha was seen for suture removal and post-operative care by her veterinary ophthalmologist, Dr. Dan Brown, on August 13. She has healed beautifully from her entropion surgery. Sasha is now ready to go to her furever home, hopefully with her lifelong pal, Odin. Even though she has a deformed front paw, she is totally unaware of its existence and gets along perfectly. Please consider adopting this sweet girl. She would be forever loyal.

About this Pei : Sasha came from a very sad background. She was staked outside her whole life, regardless of the weather. She had NEVER been to a vet, and clearly never been cared for in any way. We initially thought she was black, as she was covered in some type of dark grease. It took 2 baths to finally see that she was a fawn color! Sasha also has a deformed leg which we are not sure is genetic or the result of an injury. She gets around quite well nonetheless and loves to play. She came to us with another dog from the same conditions. His name is Odin. They are both responsive to love and care and are good buddies. We would like to keep them together if possible.

About this Pei : Duke was found as a stray in Jacksonville. He was recently rescued by FSPR and is currently being fostered in Gainesville. He is a very handsome fellow, albeit a bit gangly and underweight. With the improvement in nutrition, he should gain weight and fill out somewhat. Duke is very loving and sweet. He loves to run around in his fenced-in yard and is a great car traveler. Duke is still quite puppyish and will need a bit of TLC and training. He responds well when called. About this Pei : Jett was brought to a shelter in S. Florida after being hit by a car. Luckily, his injuries were not life-threatening and he has recovered nicely. Examination revealed that he was heartworm positive and has been treated successfully. He spent several months during treatment in a foster home with other dogs in S. Florida and got along quite well with his foster siblings. He recently relocated to a new foster home in Gainesville in order to be closer to the Jacksonville area where he will be treated by the veterinary ophthalmologist. Upon completion of treatment, Jett will be ready to move into his forever home. Jett is a very handsome, well-behaved fella. He gets along well with other dogs and people. He loves to go for walks and is house broken. He is loving and will make a wonderful addition to his forever home.
